Spring Fever

Dear Family and Friend,
February is more than halfway over, and things are starting to pick up as far as tours go. The weather is wet but no snow which is refreshing. We can't wait to see the tulips pop. They are so beautiful with so many varieties.  We saw them last spring and look forward to their return. One day when I was thinking about the beauties of spring, a little cardinal lit on my window, cocked its head as if to say "Hello". It made me giggle. It seemed to be saying "Look at me. I'm beautiful too."  Such a  fun sight!

"Hello"
I want to tell you this amusing story about the Orcon man.  He stopped at Carthage after driving around the parking lot in debate.  He came in the Visitors' center where he was met by  Elder Ercanbrack.  He told the Elder that he wanted to see if we needed his service.  Elder Ercanbrack told him he would pass his name along but would love for him to have a tour.  The Orcon man agreed.  He went back to his car with a Book of Mormon and left his contact information.  I'm sure that's not what he had in mind when he stopped.  We did pass along his business info and it will be considered for the bidding process when the present contract runs out.  Elder Ercanbrack called him and reported his findings the next day and asked him about the Book of Mormon. He said he was enjoying it.  One never knows how the Lord will find you. It may be when you think you are looking for a bug extermination contract.

Visitors' Center at Carthage
Many people come to Carthage in need of a spiritual boost. Today we had someone who had severe health challenges, a lady who just lost her mom, a young boy about to receive the priesthood, a family moving to Virginia from Idaho, a convert who wants to know how to help her family, and a young service missionary who goes home on Wednesday.  All of these tours were just today.  Both Elder Long and I  talked about how everyone needs to feel the Savior's love. There is an abundance of it, here in Carthage.
We love serving here and how it has changed our lives in just a month. Bearing testimony builds your own and we get to do that together several times each day.
Again, we love and miss you,
Sister and Elder Long
