Dear Family and Friends,
Friday was a special day with the commemoration of the announcement of the Priesthood for all worthy males. Forty years ago, we were living in Boise, and Bob was a new member of 4 days. The Blacks being excluded from the Priesthood and temple blessings was one of the challenges he had when joining the Church. He decided that there were so many blessings to gain from membership that some things would come, in time. We remember hearing the announcement as we drove by a cemetery there in Boise and being overcome with awe. Forty years later, it's marvelous to see the affect this revelation has had worldwide.
Hopefully you watched the celebration at the conference center in Salt Lake which was televised. If you missed it, I'm sure you can go to Lds.org and watch it. It was a spectacular event with incredible testimony born by word and music. You could feel the pain and faith that Black people had, along with great hope. Amazing!
Last night we attended the "Trail of Hope" where vignettes are done along the trail.

One of those vignettes was about Jane Manning, a Black American who joined the church. She and her family walked a distance of 800 miles to be with other church members in Nauvoo. Their feet became raw. They prayed for them to be healed, so they could finish their journey. Their feet were healed, and they stayed faithful throughout their lives, hoping to one day have temple blessings and the priesthood. That is true commitment.
We love belonging to a church with a living prophet who is directed by the Savior. We testify of this truth.
